Commercialising Quantum Global Summit 2024
The Economist Impact’s annual Commercialising Quantum Global Summit brings together industry leaders, media, academics, and enterprise end-users to discuss some of the defining technologies of our age. With the rapid advancement and broadening applications of quantum and photonics, the summit is a festival of ideas, fostering collaboration across different sectors, charting the path forward.
2024’s event, held in Bishopsgate in London, was Economist Impact’s third annual summit, the biggest edition yet, with nearly 800 attendees and more examples of real life applications for quantum than ever before.
Challenges
There are a growing number of quantum events and the Summit needs to stand out as unmissable for both sponsors and the media. Journalists need reasons to attend in person and sponsors need to see a positive return on their investment.
Our Approach
The program for the Commercialising Quantum Global Summit is a who’s who of quantum and photonics. In addition to issuing press releases to announce the event, we took a close look at which speakers would interest which journalist, match-making companies and the media.
We worked with many of the sponsors to identify news stories and share media intelligence and outreach. By issuing sponsor announcements before and during the show the event became a key date in the calendar for quantum news - even more attractive for journalists to take time out of the office for.
Key Results
More than 20 journalists registered for the Summit including Financial Times, The Times, Forbes, Wired, TechInformed, Enter Quantum and Physics World. Even the announcement of a UK election in the week’s running up to the show - and therefore changes to what the government and its agencies could present - didn’t affect attendance. Sponsors made new connections with the media, resulting in coverage opportunities beyond the summit itself.
Helen Ponsford, Head of Trade, Technology, Industry Events Programming at The Economist: “Our exhibitors valued TFD’s support both before the event and onsite with coordinating media outreach for announcements. The team’s ability to quickly draft press releases and news materials - showing their experience and knowledge in a very technical area - was really beneficial to us.”
